Q. How much material should I send for testing?

Q. How should I ship my samples?

A. The US Postal Service is usually very friendly to the hemp industry. Recently, may of our clients have had great success with UPS as well. We do not recommend FedEx, as this company is known for confiscating your parcel during transit. You may also drop off samples directly to our laboratory. Our hours are 9a-5p EST, M-F. However, we do offer an after-hours drop-off slot at our front door for small packages.

Please ensure that your order form is completed in full, including contact information, accurate sample names, and payment information. Please write legibly.

Q. What container should I use?

A. Plant material should be placed in any paper container. We are happy to provide you with free sample bags. Simply request a Sample Shipping Kit on our website. If you are sending liquids for testing, we recommend a plastic vessel. One that works particularly well is sold online at pipette.com (20mL Liquid Scintillation Vial, Stock Number 986734).

Q. Why is testing so important?

A. Testing your crop is critical, and it’s a step you should never ignore. The hemp plant is extremely sensitive to growing conditions and crop care. All industrial hemp must contain less than 0.3% Total THC in the plant’s biomass or else the crop becomes illegal and must be destroyed. Constant monitoring of THC levels in your crop is important to maintaining legality, as well as understanding your product once it’s time to harvest and go to market. The most successful farmers in the hemp market understand the importance of KNOW YOUR GROW.

Q. How often should I test my crop?

A. This is the most common question in the entire hemp industry.

For each particular variety that you grow, New Bloom Labs recommends that you follow the most common advice in the industry - test your crop every week once the flower phase begins. Keep in mind that hemp is an extremely sensitive plant, and compounds within the plant can react in unpredictable ways to your soil, crop care, weather, etc.

Regardless if you’re a first-time grower, just dipping your toes into this fast-growing industry, or if you’re an old pro, it’s always important to KNOW YOUR GROW. #knowyourgrow

Q. What is your turnaround time?

A. New Bloom Labs delivers all test results in 1-2 business days with the exception of our microbials analysis, which is a 3-4 day turnaround time.

Q. How long does New Bloom Labs keep my samples?

A. After we begin analysis, we will keep your samples on-hand for approximately five business days, though laboratory volume may dictate that we discard sooner on some occasions.

Q. What tests come with the Full Panel Package?

You can add a Terpene Profile or Residual Solvent Screening on top of the Full Panel package on an a la carte basis.

Q. Do you report my results to the state, DEA, or any other government agency?

A. No. Your testing results are kept in strict confidence. We will only share your data with your written permission.

Q. How do I pay for testing?

A. We’ll keep your credit card on file and charge it the same day that results are reported to you, or you can always send a check or money order with your samples.

Q. Do I need to dry my plant material before I ship to New Bloom Labs?

A. Sending fresh plant material is fine, but please refrain from cutting and shipping samples on the same day. Doing so will delay results due to a required 24-hour dry-down procedure before material can be tested. If you send fresh samples, it’s best to overnight ship through the US Postal service or UPS.

As a reference when sending fresh plant material, allow it to dry overnight before transit in a paper bag.  Please do not use plastic bags.

Q. What if I have a question about my results?

A. Feel free to call us during business hours and we’ll be happy to consult with you on what your analysis means.
